| I am currently
the lead guitarist for fishHook, a Christian alternative rock group
that has been based out of Grayson now for almost four years. We have
since, all started little families and now live a few hours away from
one another. We plan on staying together, but only playing out on
occasions.
As of January
2000 I started D.D. Creations, graphic art, publications and web
design. For as long as I can remember art has been a hobby of mine.
When the band decided that we needed a web page I took on the challenge
not knowing a thing about html, ftp, java, href, and a bunch of
other foreign codes that have now formed a new language in my head.
After seeing the finished product I was encouraged by many sources
not to bury this new found talent. So since December of 1999 I have
designed and published web sites for three additional businesses,
invitations for three weddings, programs for another wedding, two
tee shirt designs for fishHook and have future publications in the
making. (back to top)
Where
I Have Just Been:
I came to Kentucky Christian College in the fall of 1993. I came
to KCC with one thing on my mind, to learn more about God's Word.
Little did I know of the many changes and lessons I would be faced
with in the years to come. While at KCC I cultivated and
discovered gifts, talents and passions
which are discussed on that page. One of which was a talent and
passion for teaching God's Word, which lead me to pick up a weekend
Youth Ministry.
My first weekend
Youth Ministry was a small church out in the back woods of Kentucky.
It was in little town called Mt. Olivet with one red light, a grocery
store the size of a small 7-11 and a video rental store that seemed
twice the size of the grocery store! I spent two years there as
I finished my Junior and first of three Senior years at KCC. In
these two years I meet, feel in love with and married my lovely
wife Jessica. Also during this time was when fishHook was formed.
The time at that church was a great learning experience.
In the summer
of my second year there I was contacted by a youth minister in Ashland,
KY (About 20 minutes from the college). He was leaving his church
and hoped that I would be able to take his place. After prayer and
consideration Jessica and I decided to take the church closer to
the school. I agreed to stay from August of 1998 to May of 1999.
I could only stay until May of 1999 because I had made a prior commitment
to travel with fishHook that summer. Westwood Christian Church was
a pure blessing. We loved our time there and keep in touch with
many of the children from that youth group.
May of 1999
came way too soon. Jess and I said our good byes and left on great
terms. I graduated from KCC as a "Who's Who in American College
Students" and went on the road with fishHook as we released
our first album. FishHook stayed fairly busy from May to November.
Our drummer married in December and moved to Frankfort, KY. Our
lead singer married this past March and moved to Virginia where
his wife is finishing her degree. The other guitarist has been married
for a year and is wife took a job in Athens, OH. The band is still
together, but the schedule this summer is thin and Jessica, my wife,
graduates this May. So it looks like it's time to start another
chapter in our lives. It is on God's leading that we will move and
by His provision that we will succeed. (back to top)
Where
I Have Come From:
I
was born and raised in central NC. I did not become a Christian
until I was 17 years old. During my time in High School I was in
one of five places: in the garage playing drums with a long-haired
rock and roll band, on a soccer field, in school drama rehearsal,
on a sand volleyball court or on my skateboard. A series of events
lead me to question the Bible's validity. So I went to the Bible
with the intent to prove that it was just a fairy tale to give hope
to the weak minded. As I read I fell further away from my initial
goal and closer to a relationship with Jesus. Having started in
the beginning of Matthew's Gospel with the ill intentions I had
mentioned, by the time I got to the resurrection I was in tears
of both joy and sorrow. It was then that I decided to give my life
to God. I was baptized and became very active in a local church.
After high school I took a year to work and figure out what I was
going to do. I couldn't get enough of the Bible and I wanted more.
More understanding and more knowledge. It was then that I decided
to go to KCC and since then I have been trying hard to follow God's
lead and not to step in His way. (back to top)
