It is important
to know your strengths and weaknesses. I preface this page with
that because I do not want this to be miss-interpreted as a page
of bragging. God has given to us all unique and useful gifts and
potential in areas. Recognizing those gifts is a valuable asset
to any human and to the Christian especially. Once a passion, talent
or gift is recognized, a Christian can then take what God has given
and cultivate it to bring honor to His name.
I have organized
this inventory into a small list below. The gift, talent or passion
is listed, briefly described, followed by a history of training,
use and experience and last, is shown how it can benefit your youth..
- A
Wonderful Wife and a Strong Marriage
- Teaching of God's Word
- Music
- Counseling
- Graphic Art, Publishing and Web Page Designing
- Other Interests

A
wife of great compassion, support and stability. Who is
loyal and faithful both to me and to God. A wife who is
very knowledgeable in the scriptures and works well with
teens and children of all ages. A marriage that can stand
as an example of a model Christian marriage. A marriage
that is not perfect, but of one that won't give up, one
that won't settle for second best and one that is always
making improvements. |
|
|
|
| |
A
daily commitment to loving, supporting and encouraging
one another, through clear communication and unselfish
motives. |

The
Professor who married Jess and I had said once that, "God
hasn't given us the wives that we deserve, but He has
given us the wives that we need." Having a wife who
is not only a best friend and a lover, but one who is
a partner in ministry is, in my opinion, one of the strongest
tools a Youth Minister could have. When a female in the
Youth group wants to talk she has the choice of talking
to another female, my wife. Or if it is me that she wants
to talk to then Jess can sit in on the conversation for
accountability. In the lessons I teach Jessica helps to
reinforce the lesson, or a certain point during class
with out being a distraction to the flow of the lesson.
Unfortunately in these times a lot of kids come from broken
families and it is a very positive influence for them
to see what a marriage can be like with communication,
cooperation, a continuous conscious effort and God's presence. |

Beginning
with a good understanding of the text, being able to communicate
it clearly and in a way that can be remembered, while
keeping the subject at hand interesting, challenging and
useful. |

This
gift began to form during the second half of my college
career. God's Word impacted my life at my conversion (See
General Personal Information/Where I Have Come From)
and since then has been a passionate part of my Christian
walk. The gift for teaching became more and more prevalent,
so I focused my free elective classes on the New Testament.
I have had classes on every book in the New Testament,
except Galatians and Romans. I taught innovative lessons
at both of the churches I have served, preached on occasions,
taught at camps and I give a 15-20 minute lesson at every
fishHook concert. |

I
am heavy on the need and effectiveness of good Biblical
teaching (see Statement of Ministry).
I feel that our churches need more in-depth teaching.
If we want to get back to the Bible as our reformation
has so inspired us, then strengths in Biblical teaching
among the ministers and teachers of our churches is a
must. This gift, talent and passion can serve your congregation
to bring a level of teaching to your youth that would
be challenging, motivating and useful. |

Proficient
at guitar (rhythm, lead and acoustic) and bass, competent
behind a drum set and limited skills with the piano. Knowledge
and understanding of music and music theory. Skilled at
sound engineering. |
|
|
|
| |
I
had discovered early a God given passion and talent in
music. Through high school I played drums as a non-Christian
in non-Christian bands. After becoming a Christian my
focus moved from drums to guitar and has stayed there
since. Through my years at KCC I played in three Christian
rock bands, made three separate recordings, played guitar
and bass in the KCC Jazz band for three years and played
drums, guitar and bass for chapel services. I traveled
one summer as the sound engineer for Destiny, after which
was asked and agreed to train other engineers for the
following two years. By the end of my years at KCC I had
completed Music Theory I through IV and only missed a
music minor by two classes. |

Musical
talent has many advantages to the Youth Minister of a
church. The ability to play guitar makes youth worship
alive and interesting. Youth are often very drawn to music,
and having a musically inclined Youth Minister can only
help the connection between the youth and the Youth Minister. |
|
|
| |
|
|
|
|
| |
Being
comfortable assisting one through times of trouble or
confusion by means of listening, being able to understand
the psychology of the individual in the given circumstances
and being able to offer Biblical advice and emotional
support during their time of need. |
|
|
|
| |
I
have always been fascinated by the "why" behind
the "what." This fascination helps me to look
at the root of the problem instead just treating surface
level symptoms. I have been used by God in areas of counseling
for years, in many different situations |
|
|
|
| |
Youth
today deal with so much in their day to day lives. Having
a friendly, caring Youth Minister who will not only listen
to their problems, but will point them to Biblical advice
can make a huge impact on the youth. A lot of times our
youth deal with things alone. They do this not out of
choice, but because they don't have anyone to turn to.
As one who has a passion for understanding and helping
I can help to serve your youth, not only as a teacher,
but as an caring Christian brother. |
|
|
| |
|
|
|
|
| |
Skilled
in designing, producing and publishing with professional
graphic art tools to make clean professional publications. |
|
|
|
| |
As
stated in General Personal Information/Where
I Am Now art has always been a hobby of mine. It
has just been recently that I have tapped in to the
medium of Computer Graphic Art and Web Page Design.
This has become a prevalent hobby of mine and has served
to bring in a little extra income.

|

We
live in a visual world. We also live in a technological
world of changes and new forms of communication. Having
a Youth Minister with these skills can help keep your
youth program looking professional, whether it be through
a professional Web Page representing the church, or through
professional newsletters or flyers that can creatively
and effectively inform others of events and programs.
And ultimately, as youth attend well planned events and
programs, the youth will be drawn to Christ. |
|
|
| |
|
|
| |
Soccer,
racquet ball, shooting pool, swimming, camping, hiking,
computer games, bowling, volleyball and I am always open
to try something new. |
|
|
|
| |
The
more activities that I am involved in, or have been involved
in increases my ability to make connections with the youth.
Having the authority of a teacher and the respect of a
peer is a fruitful combination when ministering to the
youth. |
